Goddess Durga symbolizes the divine forces (positive energy) known as divine shakti (feminine energy/ power) that is used against the negative forces of evil and wickedness. It is believed that Goddess Durga is the combined form of powers of Goddesses Lakshmi, Kali and Saraswati.GoddessDurga was created to combat the evil demon Mahishasura. When to Perform DurgaPooja-The 8th day of Ashtami falling during the nine-day festival of Navratri is said to be most auspicious for worshipping Goddess Durga. Hence it is also known as DurgaAshtami or MahaAshtami.
